The calf leather lace-up shoes feature a Tabi almond-shaped toe and are finished with Sandstorming, a technique which conjures the effect of a sandstorm on the fabric as surface decoration. A reference to the Maison Margiela Artisanal 2022 romantic tale that influenced this collection, set in the Arizona desert. Maison Margiela’s signature white stitch appears at the back. The Tabi split-toe is inspired by the traditional 15th century Japanese sock bearing the same name – launched for the Maison’s debut collection in 1989. It captures the avant-garde and insubordinate spirit of the Maison and exists as a heritage classic, continually explored through each collection.
